How promoted content is labelled
Artists pay for the cards marked Promoted on Captunes, and for posts marked #ad on our social accounts. That is how we keep the charts and insights free.
Promoted cards appear only in their own labelled boxes — never inside a chart, a ranking, an insight or an editorial post — and paying never changes chart positions, which come from Apple Music. Links in promoted cards are marked as sponsored for search engines. Every promotion is reviewed by a person before it appears.
Questions
Who can promote?
Any independent artist with a claimed Captunes profile and a published release on Captunes. Claiming is free: find your profile in the artist directory, or create one from your dashboard.
When does my promotion start?
As soon as it is approved, if a slot is free. Each placement shows only a few promotions at once; when it is full, your promotion is scheduled for the next free slot, shown on each plan before you pay. You always get the full duration you paid for.
What do you review?
That you have the rights to the music and artwork, and that nothing is hateful, sexually explicit in the artwork, misleading or infringing. Most reviews take less than a day. If we decline, you get a full refund automatically.
Can I cancel?
Yes, for a full refund at any time before the placement starts, from your promotions dashboard. Once it has started it runs to the end and is not refundable, except for an outage on our side longer than 24 hours.
How are impressions counted?
An impression is counted when at least half of your card is visible on screen. We measure a random sample of page views and scale it up, which keeps the site fast; numbers are accurate to a few percent. Clicks are counted one by one, excluding known bots.
Will this get me onto the charts?
No. Charts come from Apple Music and nothing on Captunes changes them. Promotion gets your release seen by people who care about new music; what they do next is up to your music.
